The Super Bowl 101: For Nigerians..

The Super Bowl is the national championship game of the National Football League(NFL) in the United States of America.
This football is not the same as our football where you kicked the ball into a goal.
Some Africans call it handball because the players literally hold the ball and try to get to the opponent’s side of the field to score a TOUCHDOWN.
TOUCHDOWN is similar to saying SCORE or in our football: GOAL.

There are three different types of scores in American football. The first is called a touchdown worth 6 point which comes with an extra 1 point to make it 7. Second score is a field goal worth 3 points. Third score is called a safety which is worth 2 points. In case you are down by four points and you are trying to tie the game, you can score a touch down which is 6 point and go for a 2 point conversion which is obviously 2 point (knowledge by Nsi aka. Possible Etim).

This is our football or soccer to Americans: Soccer  and this is American football American Football

The Super Bowl is a big deal for Americans the same way the World Cup is a big deal to Nigerians when Nigeria plays.
People gather together to watch the game. People order a large amount of food for the game. Some people like me watch the game for the commercials. The Super Bowl is also a big deal for businesses. Businesses pay a lot of money to make sure their commercials are shown during the game because they know a lot of people are watching.

We all need Music Therapy..

Music therapy is the use of music interventions to accomplish individual goals with a credential professional(American Music Therapy Association). Professionals use music interventions because it really works. When life gets rough, I use music therapy. No, I don’t go to a professional. I gather my own motivational songs and I do my own music therapy. We can all benefit from music therapy. We have different reasons why we listen to music. Sometimes in life we need that moment where we shut everybody out and listen to good relaxing music.

How to pick the songs for your Music therapy?

What are you struggling with? It could be pain. You might must to listen to songs about healing. Songs like “I am the Lord that healeth thee” by Don Moen

Are you struggling with disappointment? Songs like “God will make a way” by Don Moen could come in handy.

If you are not a Christian; pick songs that encourage you in order to get through. It is not the time to listen to depressing music or songs that make you feel worse. You definitely need a group of positive songs where you can always listen to feel uplifted.

Here is my go to songs for music therapy: It has the mixture of relaxing and uplifting songs.

1. Jonathan McReynolds – God Is Able

2. Yiruma-River runs through you.
3. Imagine Me-Kirk Franklin
4. Get Up-Mary Mary

5. I worship you by Mary Mary
6. Lifted by Frank Edwards

7. Soweto Gospel Choir ft Joe Praize-Mighty God
8. Heal the World-Michael Jackson
9. I then shall Live by Gaither Vocal Band
10. Never Give Up-Yolanda Adams

Make a playlist for your motivational songs and play them over and over again. When you are going through things, it is important you listen to encouraging and relaxing songs. We all use music in different ways; it’s time we use music for our benefit.

Selah!

You have to trust her..

Who is she?
She is your intuition.
Some people call her that “gut feeling.”

When a guy or girl does or tells you and all of a sudden, you know something is not right.
That’s her telling you something is wrong.
We all have her in the inside of us.
She will not lead you astray.
Trust her!!!

She will never tell you something that could bring harm to you or someone else.
Trust your judgment.
We all have the ability to make good decisions.

A list of men God will NEVER give YOU..

I am still on a break from blogging lol.. Seriously, I am.. hahah..

Single Ladies,

I have been watching this “Where is he Already?” series on Youtube. Have you seen it?
You should definitely check it out. Here is the first episode.

God will never give you:

1. A married man-if you are dating one, please…move on, he is off the market. (Mark 10:9-what God has joined together, let no man put asunder).. I feel the need to say this again. GOD will NEVER GIVE YOU a MARRIED MAN. Again? GOD WILL NEVER GIVE YOU A MARRIED MAN.

2. A non-believer-2 Cor 6:14-Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship does righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion does light have with darkness?

3. A man who verbally or physically abuses you

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.-1 Cor 13:4-7

4. An irresponsible man-
if he can’t take care of himself..he can’t  take care of you.

Is he living with his mom?
Is he in debt?
Does he pay his own bills?
Does he know how to manage money?
What are his plans for the future?
Is he taking care of his kids if he has any?
How many baby mamas does he have?

You will know a responsible man when you see one.. I trust you.
“For this reason a man will leave his mother and father and cling to his wife”-Matthew 19:5

James 1:17-Every good and perfect gift comes from the lord and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Confidence..

Growing up in Nigeria..
I was a pretty little girl meaning I got a lot of attention even from older men.
From a young age, I grew to have confidence in my looks.

For you, it may not be looks..
It could be money, car, friends or family …….etc.

God wants us to only have confidence in him.
What do you have confidence in?
God will never share his glory with anyone.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Online Dating..Dislike!!!

Personally, I don’t support online dating because it neglects the foundation of every healthy relationship.
In my opinion..
the most important foundation for a healthy relationship leading to marriage is God and Friendship.

Why God and Friendship?
God is the most important foundation of anything.
Remember, Genesis 1:1-In the beginning..God!!
God has to come first in the relationship.

Secondly..
Friendship is vital for communication.
Communication is very important in marriage.

Christian Mingle is designed mostly for Christian Singles..
I have never been on Christian Mingle..
I guess the aim would be to put two God-fearing people together.

Here’s my thing with online dating…
It neglects friendship.
People get on these sites to literally find their soul mates.. not friendship but friendship is vital in a marriage relationship.

At the end of the day,
you want to marry your best friend..
Is your best friend online??

Think about it..
Why do we take matters into our own hands instead of trusting in God?

I John 4:18

“Perfect love cast out all fears.”

You know the moment when you’re dealing with something
and you just don’t know what it is..
Suddenly, God shines his light on the darkness.
And then you go “ahh, that’s better!”

To get what you really want,
you have to surrender all.
I mean ALL!!
Until, we get to the point of total submission,
then, we don’t know what true love is..

God is teaching me right now to just TRUST him.
Am the kind of person,
I like to plan ahead like my dad.
Then, I turn and look at my present condition,
and ask “Lord, how will this be?”
His answer always is.. “Edikan just TRUST me”

Faith is trusting God even when it doesn’t make sense.
Fear questions..
Faith sees it already done.
Faith allows us to stop worrying and let God be God.

Remember..
if you can spend your life trusting God more than worrying..
It will be so worth it.

Someone once told me..
if you’re going to pray don’t worry.
if you’re going to worry don’t pray!
