What happened to our Nigerian Accent?

Is this self-hate or what? A lot of our people are forcing themselves to have American or British accents. Is it by force?
Why are people in Nigeria with British or American accents?
The surprising thing is that most people with these accents have lived their whole lives in Nigeria.
Ramsey Nouah was born and raised in Nigeria, but he has an American accent.
Our Nigerian movies are not helping the matter either.
How can you have a Nigerian character with an American accent?
Come on, directors..
Tell your actors and actresses to portray the characters well.

A Nigerian character that is born and raised in Nigeria should have a Nigerian accent.

I have lived in the US for 13years.
My accent has gradually changed because I came here at a young age.
I didn’t force it but it happened because of my society.
Honestly, I prefer my Nigerian accent.

Nigerians, why are we not proud of who we are?
Why do we try to be other people?
I worked in a restaurant for a while.
One day, I was taking this man’s order and he started laughing at my face because of my accent.
I didn’t care. That’s his ignorance not mine.

We don’t see Americans or British people trying to talk like us in their movies except they are imitating us.
We are Nigerians..
We have to embrace it with our accents and all.
We are not perfect but every country has its trouble.

Americans are proud to be Americans.
British people are proud of themselves.
We have to know our identity before we can start a change movement in our country.

The spirit has an inverse relationship with our flesh:

Recently, I have been stressed out about a lot of things. Instead of running to the source of all peace, I become this workaholic person who tries to make everything better. The new person I became has not really helped my relationship with God. The crazy thing is when my relationship with God goes downhill; it makes me more stressed out. To be honest, I think I am stressed out because I have been kicking my relationship with God to the curb. Let me say that our relationship with God is the most important relationship in life that if it is not right there; it wouldn’t be right elsewhere. I have been through a lot of storms in my life and I know that the only thing that kept me sane was my relationship with God.

When we spend time with God in his word, prayer with or without fasting, it helps us to grow our spiritually. Growing spiritually is very important because it energizes our spirit to overcome the flesh. Remember, our flesh is always fighting against the spirit. The flesh wants to win because it’s in our human nature for our flesh to win; however, the more we spend time with God we build up our spiritual man to defeat our flesh.

The opposite happened to me, I was busy worrying about the cares of life that I neglected energizing my spiritual man. In this period my flesh had an upper hand against my spirit. It is important that we spend time with him to defeat our flesh. We can’t defeat our flesh alone; we need God to defeat our flesh.

We definitely need to walk in the spirit so we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

Help us Lord to continue to chase after you. Amen!!

Letter to one of my Friends,

Dear friend,

I cannot thank you enough for your sacrifice for me this week.
This week was tough physically and emotionally.
Of course, I had to talk to my sister.
Most importantly, I had to talk to God.
I called you up and asked you if you will sacrifice a day without food to pray for me.
You did.
I have never had a anyone do this with me.
For the first time in my life, I have a true friend.
When my sister was around, she helped me out a lot.
When love took her away, I felt all alone and empty.
Our friendship is not perfect; however, I am thankful for it.

For the first time in my life, I have a true friend.
It’s a blessing to call you my friend.
I pray God makes me a better friend to you.

Love is..

True loves says when everybody quits on you, I will ALWAYS be HERE fighting for you and us. A lot of people marry people emotionally only to find out they married for the wrong reasons. LOVE is too POWERFUL to QUIT!!

Change the negative into a positive..

Some moments in life can really bite.
Guess what? It’s not the end of world.
The negative things in my life motivate me to work harder towards my goals.
So when negative things happen to you don’t allow it beat you down. Cry, if you have to cry.
After crying, clean your tears and work harder.
Allow it to motivate you to do better.
Self-pity will get you no way but God, hard work and determination will get you somewhere.

After crying, please get up and try!!

Nigerian Men 101: For Non-Nigerian women dating Nigerian Men..

If you’re a non-Nigerian woman dating a Nigerian man, here are some things you need to know about your Nigerian Man.

1. Your Nigerian Man values Education-Most Nigerian men are in foreign countries for education, sports or business. Since you are foreign, you most likely met him in your home country or a country foreign country to him.

2. Your Nigerian Man loves Soccer (fyi: we call it football)- I am yet to find a Nigerian man who doesn’t love soccer. Find out his favorite professional soccer team and support the team. The popular soccer teams are Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and the list goes on.

3. Your Nigerian Man loves his family: if you get to meet his family, he is very serious about you. Nigerian men don’t joke with their families. To meet his family, you definitely want to leave a good impression. If his family approves of you, he will most likely marry you.

4. Your Nigerian Man’s language will tell you about his culture. If he says he is Igbo, Yoruba, Efik etc..etc. You want to read up on his culture. If he was raised in Nigeria, there are some cultural practices that he might still want to uphold. This cultural thing is more important when you meet his family, you don’t want to do anything to insult his parents or family members. Reading or asking him about his culture might be helpful to you down the road.

5. Your Nigerian Man loves his Nigerian food- you will find some Nigerian men here and there who do not like their Nigerian foods but I am yet to find one. If you want him to put a ring on it quicker, learn to cook his ethnic food and see what he will do. Most Nigerian men in foreign countries are learning or already know how to cook their ethnic food but you will impress him more if you learn to cook it or show some an interest.

More to Come… If you have any questions, please comment below or email me at [email protected]

The SOLUTION to our Nigerian Problems..

Guess what? I have the solution to all our Nigerian problems.
You want to know?
We are the solution to our problems.
You heard me right.
You are the solution to your country’s problems.
Do you think the United States of America or China would be where they are today if they waited for foreigners to help them build their country?
NO!!!
Nigerians stop blaming politicians and start blaming yourselves.
We are the solution to our problems but we haven’t figured out the solution because we are not thinking outside the box.

I want to show you something to help you understand the importance of thinking outside the box.
Below, I have posted two video of young people who thought outside the box and brought solutions to their African Community.

1. This little boy found a way of saving lions and people in his community by thinking outside the box.
How did he do it? Watch the video to find out.

2. This African young man did something that surpises M.I.T professors by thinking outside the box. How did he do it? Watch the video to find out.

My people, our real problem is that we are not thinking. These young boys don’t have PHD degrees but they are making a difference. WHAT IS OUR EXCUSE? It’s time to start THINKING, NIGERIANS.

THINK NIGERIANS THINK!!!
WE HAVE THE SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEMS BUT WE NEED TO START THINKING!!
