Why does Nigerian Men 101 have the most views?

1. It could be because it has the picture of Kerry Washington in it. Kerry Washington right now is hot cake because of Scandal.
2. Non-Nigerian women are curious about Nigerian men.
3. There are no resources out there to educate Non-Nigerian women about Nigerian Men.

What happened to our Nigerian Accent?

Is this self-hate or what? A lot of our people are forcing themselves to have American or British accents. Is it by force?
Why are people in Nigeria with British or American accents?
The surprising thing is that most people with these accents have lived their whole lives in Nigeria.
Ramsey Nouah was born and raised in Nigeria, but he has an American accent.
Our Nigerian movies are not helping the matter either.
How can you have a Nigerian character with an American accent?
Come on, directors..
Tell your actors and actresses to portray the characters well.

A Nigerian character that is born and raised in Nigeria should have a Nigerian accent.

I have lived in the US for 13years.
My accent has gradually changed because I came here at a young age.
I didn’t force it but it happened because of my society.
Honestly, I prefer my Nigerian accent.

Nigerians, why are we not proud of who we are?
Why do we try to be other people?
I worked in a restaurant for a while.
One day, I was taking this man’s order and he started laughing at my face because of my accent.
I didn’t care. That’s his ignorance not mine.

We don’t see Americans or British people trying to talk like us in their movies except they are imitating us.
We are Nigerians..
We have to embrace it with our accents and all.
We are not perfect but every country has its trouble.

Americans are proud to be Americans.
British people are proud of themselves.
We have to know our identity before we can start a change movement in our country.

Myths Nigerians need to stop believing about America:

1. Money grows on trees– I know a lot of Nigerians don’t think like this but for those who believe this myth, please stop believing it. America has a lot of opportunities, but Nigerians have to come here and work hard for their money. Stop calling a student in the America to send money to you. If they are not working; they don’t have the money. Please try to believe that even if they are working that as a student, they wouldn’t have that much time to commit to work and making money.

2. People who travel aboard are better than you– There are insecure people who come back from America to Nigeria to act high and mighty. Truth is they are nothing and I don’t care how much money they have. Treat them the same. They will try to pretend that they have forgotten their native language, it’s not true. Now, if they have been in America for 15years or more, it is possible to forget the language if they didn’t speak with other natives but they should still be able to remember.

3. There is no poor person or places here– Everywhere you go you will see poor people and places. America is not exempted.

4. Nigerian girls and Nigerian guys are the same from back at home: I mean, they have the same mentality but with a little twist. Nigerian guys here are away from their mothers and family, so they have to learn to cook. You will be surprised how Nigerian guys can cook. The whole thing about woman cooking is slowing going out the window (women still need to know to cook). Nigerian girls here are very independent and not as dependent as they would have been on men in Nigeria.

5. We don’t eat our native food: There are some Nigerians who come back and act like they can’t eat Nigerian food anymore. Don’t mind them. We still eat Nigerian food here. It is a little expensive because we are limited as to where we can get the food stuff but we still eat it. Some places in the states might be different.

Nigerian girls 101: Advice to guys dating Nigerian girls..

Nigerian guys are to soccer as Nigerian Girls are to______________?

I asked this question on my facebook status and I got all sort of answers. The answers people gave were
Money, Brazilian hair, Fashion, and Instagram. To answer this question, I would say “Money.”

I know I am a Nigerian girl and putting Nigerian girls under the bus will not be good for us, but I have to be honest with you guys.

Yes, I said it.. MONEY!!

Please, excuse my honesty..
Some Nigerian girls are too materialistic.
I didn’t say all Nigerian girls, I said “SOME.”

Some of these girls are so Materialistic to the point it could make someone sick.
Nigerian girls are materialistic due to the way things are in Nigeria (I want to believe)…
I think if things were a little better economically, it wouldn’t be this bad.
Please know that I am not condemning any Nigerian girl.

Advice to Guys dating or who want a Nigerian Girl..

First of all: if you marry a girl who clearly only loves you for your money, it is your fault not hers. If you feel you have to buy a woman’s love with your money, something is seriously wrong with you. Love is priceless. If you can buy love, it is not love.

If you want to marry a Nigerian girl who truly loves you for you then you have to take money out of the equation. Initially, you may want to study her and the friends she hangs out with to know the kind of person she is. Take her to a cheaper restaurant and see her reaction. If she ask you for money for something, say “no” and see her reaction. Let her discover that you have money after you are sure  she is into you for you. You need to be discreet about it too.

If a lady marries you for money, she will leave you when the money is gone. BEWARE!!!

The video below was made for jokes but characterizes Nigerian women very well.

Again not all Nigerian girls are Materialistic but be careful that you don’t make yourself a victim.

Nigerian guys are to soccer as Nigerian Girls are to Money.

What do you lose when someone curses you out?

Someone once told me “I was about to curse you out.”
Immediately, I thought “so?”
This person made it sound like a threat.
Seriously people, what do you lose when someone curses you out?
NOTHING!!!
Throwing the “f-bomb” or whatever word bomb you choose doesn’t affect me.
No part of my body is affected.
I don’t need to rush to the hospital because you dropped your “f-bomb” or any other word bomb you choose for me.
I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to lose, if you curse me out.
I am not insulted by your ignorance.
I don’t understand why people make it a big deal when someone curses them out?
You have nothing to lose and they are cursing you out because they are hurt. They try to use their words to hurt you back to appease their pain.

Agreed, words are powerful but..
No man’s word is more powerful than God’s words over my life because the word of God is quick and powerful and it’s sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrew 4:12).
Plus, you can’t curse whom God has already blessed (Numbers 23:8).
“No weapon formed against me shall prosper. And every tongue that rises up against me in judgment will and shall be condemned.” (Isaiah 54:17).

Nigerian Guys and Chivalry

A lot of Nigerian guys hate the word “chivalry” or refuse to know that that word exist. I understand our culture supports the idea that men are superior to women, so men feel they don’t need to do much. Your Nigerian lady deserves to be treated like a lady. We make culture not the other way around.

Chivalry is a western custom we need to adopt into our culture. It’s not just about pulling out chairs or opening doors for your lady. It’s about treating your lady like a lady. Most Nigerian guys refuse to recognize chivalry because it acknowledges the woman first. Our aggressive Nigerian men want to be first in everything even before their wives. Practicing chivalry subconsciously affirms to your woman that she comes first before anybody else even you. Guys who practice chivalry are called “gentlemen.” Your Nigerian lady deserves to be with gentleman.

You will discover more benefits as you adopt chivalry into relationship. I know Nigerian women are strong women but we still need our guys to treat us like ladies. Some Nigerian women don’t like chivalry but if your lady loves it, do it!

Nigerian vs. American Culture

Definition of culture: the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group:

I lived in Nigeria for 12years and in the states for 12years. Some differences I have noticed in Nigerian and American culture. I left Nigeria 12years ago, some things about Nigeria might be different but you will get the gist.

General Culture:
-Nigerian culture: grouped by language. Each language has its own culture. People who speak the same language share the same culture. For example: People who speak Yoruba language share the same culture.

-American culture: It’s really hard to sum up the American culture because it’s so diverse. The way people think in the North is not the way people think in the South. I think the social norms are similar across the states.

Social Norms

Nigerian: Can’t call your elders by their first name. Instead you say “Aunty” or “Uncle” even though they are not related to you. Professionally: Say “Madame” or “Sir”
American: Can call elders by their first name. Professionally: Say “Ma’am” or “Sir”

Family:
Nigerian Parents: Very strict and not affectionate. They are not open to meeting girlfriends or boyfriends except you are getting engaged to them.
American Parents: Lenient and more affectionate. They are open to meeting the people their kids are dating.

Kids:
Nigerian: Kids can live with their parents till they get married with full support from their parents.
American: legal adult age is 18 which mean their parents can kick them out of the house at this age. That’s why a lot of Americans are independent by this age. Their culture encourages independence by 18.

Education:
Nigerian: Value Education.. Education is HUGE in our Culture!!!! Uneducated people are undermined and look down upon.
American: Education is huge in American Culture as well but it varies among ethnic groups.

School
Nigerian: Nursery, Primary and Secondary school students are required to wear uniforms. University students can wear what they like. Teachers and senior students can punish junior students in Primary and secondary schools.
American: Private school students have to wear uniforms. Public students can wear what they like. University students can wear what they like.

Clothing:
Nigerian: When I was in Nigeria, it wasn’t socially acceptable for girls to wear pants but I think time is changing (it’s becoming more socially acceptable).
American: Women can wear pants. It’s socially acceptable for women to wear pants. It is very possible for a woman to wear pants all year without wearing skirts and dresses (very possible).

Shopping:
Nigerian: You can bargain prices and buy things at a lower price. Supermarkets you can’t bargain.
American: No bargaining. The price you see is what you pay except they are on sale or you have a coupon. People can bargain at auctions and stuff.

Misc-
Nigerian: Social economic class competitions.
American: Race Issues

Greetings:
Nigeria: Shake hands elders with both hands instead of one. Never greet an elder with a left hand. Showing respect to elders is very important in our culture.
American: Doesn’t really matter.
